Specializations
Delictual Liability
The “Delictual Liability” study module provides a comprehensive and systematic explanation of the legal principles governing liability for unlawful conduct within the Czech legal system. It is based on the fundamentals of legal theory and offers students a detailed introduction to the concept of a delict, the legal consequences of unlawful conduct, and the structure of liability relationships.
The module includes an in-depth analysis of both criminal and administrative liability, with particular emphasis on the constituent elements of criminal offences and misdemeanours, forms of culpability, the subject and object of a delict, as well as the principles of criminal sanctions and the liability of legal entities. Attention is also given to the relationship between general principles of criminal law and their practical implications for the exercise of public authority.
An important component of the module is the integration of theory with practical examples and case law, enabling students to better understand how legal norms are applied in real-life situations. The module thus develops the ability to navigate issues of liability and supports practical legal reasoning.
The study materials are divided into three parts, which systematically guide students from the foundations of legal theory, through the general part of criminal law, to specific issues of criminal and administrative delictual liability.
Specialist in Corporate Law
The “Specialist in Corporate Law” study module provides a comprehensive and systematic overview of the legal regulation of business corporations in both the Czech and European contexts. Students gain an in-depth understanding of the principles governing the formation, management, and transformation of commercial companies and cooperatives, including the practical aspects of corporate governance, compliance, and the liability of members of corporate bodies. The module focuses on key legal principles and their practical application—from the fundamentals of corporate law, legal personality, and the establishment of corporations, through the duty of due managerial care, corporate governance structures, and the protection of shareholders and members, to mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and international aspects of corporate governance. Emphasis is also placed on ethical aspects of corporate management, management liability, and legal risks, including compliance programmes, the protection of intellectual property and data, and ESG obligations. The module is intended for all those seeking expert-level orientation in corporate regulation, including lawyers, members of statutory bodies, auditors, compliance specialists, advisers, and managers.
Specialist in European Law
The “Specialist in European Law” study module provides a comprehensive exposition of the legal system of the European Union and its relationship with the Czech legal order. It offers an in-depth insight into the functioning of European institutions, the principles of EU law, its sources, hierarchy, and practical application in legal practice. The module guides students from the fundamentals of legal theory through constitutional and private law to a detailed analysis of EU law and its impact on labour, administrative, and criminal law. Emphasis is placed on understanding the principles of the supremacy of EU law, the direct effect of EU legal norms, and the significance of the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union. The curriculum includes a detailed explanation of the EU’s institutional structure, an overview of competences and decision-making processes, European administrative law, internal market freedoms, principles of free movement, and the coordination of social security systems. It also addresses current developments in European legislation, the influence of case law, and practical implications for the Czech legal system. The module is suitable for lawyers, managers, public administration specialists, as well as for anyone seeking a strategic understanding of the European legal environment and its impact on national law.
